Characteristics:
A white or almost white crystalline powder.
Function and Use:
The product can selectively inhibit the T & B lymphocytes related to rejection and prevent proliferation of arterial smooth muscle. Other immunosuppressive agents don’t possess the latter action. In summary, MMF has the following specificity: (1)selectively inhibit the de novo pathway of guanosine nucleotide, no toxic reaction on nonlymphocytes and /or organ; (2) directly inhibit proliferation of B cell, while cyclosporine can’t inhibit formation of antibodies; (3) reduce the activation of adhesive cell and inhibit the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle, may prevent and treat vascular rejection and reduce occurrence of chronic rejection.
The product is used for the prevention of organ rejection in patients receiving kidney, heart or liver transplants. It can be used together with cyclosporine and ACH.
